Geodesea Ltd now using Beamworx AutoPatch
Geodesea Ltd have recently started using Beamworx AutoPatch for Patch Testing.
A brilliant bit of software which saves time and eliminates potential operator bias during calibration routines, not to mention the identification of lever arm offset and SVP measurement errors.

MBMax LOG File Generator
Just created an MBMax log file generator, as last time I checked the Hypack version only allowed to merge 2 existing log files and I have been creating them in TextPad for use in MBMax.
May or may not be of use - it is to us! Down load HERE and change *.txt to *.exe
Requires .NET v4.0.0.0 or later
Can easily be embedded into Hypack shell too :-)

Geodesea Ltd now using Beamworx AutoClean
Geodesea have recently purchased a Beamworx Autoclean licence for MBES and vessel based LiDAR data cleaning.
Simple and robust point cloud cleaning program for Bathymetric and LiDAR point data. In times where software becomes more and more complex we present a new cleaning tool that is focused on day to day cleaning on board of survey vessels or near site. Very easy to learn, easy to operate and to install program. Due to its flexible import and export it will fit in every workflow.

CSO Hi-Res surveys for Thames Water
Geodesea Ltd were recently asked to process and render hi-resolution multibeam bathymetry data of several Combined Storm Outlet structures located within the River Thames for Thames Water PLC.
Comparison of several datasets over the same structures allows for utilities providers to get a clear picture of the sedimentation regimes within the structures on a temporal, as well as spatial, basis.
Volumetric analysis was carried out using Hypack and Fledermaus software packages.

RS232 to USB latency minimisation
Having to mobilise equipment in a short time , with limited equipment & space it is sometimes necessary to use Rs232 to USB serial converters. But the inherent latency is not ideal for a survey setup.
When data is sent from a serial device to a USB converter it is cached on the USB converter until one of two things happens:
- Transfer size – More then x BYTES are collected or
- Latency timer – More then n Milliseconds (ms) expirer.
Luckily we can set the Transfer size, and latency timer.
Most USB to 485 devices that I have used have the ability to set the transfer size and the latency timer.
- Start menu–> Settings –> Control panel –> device manager –> Ports (COM & LPT) –>{Select your USB to RS485 converter}
- Right click and select “Properties”
- Select the “Port Settings” tab
- Click the “Advanced” button
- Change the Latency Timer (mSec) to 1ms or the lowest possible setting (I use 4ms).
- Change the USB Transfer sizes to 256 - the largest NMEA data string is 82 bytes.
- Save and close.
